Reiki
Reiki is a technique that promotes relaxation, diminished stress, and pain, and healing at the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. While a precise translation from Japanese to English is difficult, the word “rei” refers to spirit and/or universe. “Ki” means vital or life force energy. A basic understanding of Reiki is that this universal life force energy can be accessed and channeled to support healing. Known too as the Usui System of Natural Healing, Reiki is likely an ancient practice, which Dr. Mikao Usui rediscovered in Japan in the early 20th century. A Japanese-American named Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to the West after extensive training in Japan.
